Comments on: Mac’s are better than PC’s

I’ve have been a PC enthusiast for most of my adult life and recently switched to Mac’s after defending PC’s all the time. I felt it was about time I actually tried a Mac. After using a Mac for over a year now I can honestly say that I could never go back to using a PC. This article is my personal view and felt it was news worthy because I was surprised by how smooth OS X was compared to anything I have tried on the PC.

OK, the title is a bit misleading as the article is really about virtualization, but my experience of this was just another thing in the long list of things that I regularly post about that confirm my love for Apple Mac’s.

This article is not a scientific study it’s just my personal option, let’s not forget that is what blogs are all about.

So in your article you’ve concluded that a Mac is better than a PC due to the fact that your virtual machines in VMware (third-party software) run smoothly on a box with an abundance of computing power? You’ve managed to do this without a comparison study, or even mentioning any differences between Macs and PCs.

“I challenge any off-the-shelf PC to do better. This is just one more thing that makes me realise why I could never go back to owning a PC.”

I’ve used VMware on a PC with much lower computing power. Worked great for multiple OS’s. That’s because it’s good software. Good third party software. I’d hazard the guess that any off-the-shelf PC with the same specs as your iMac would perform just as well.

I challenge you to actually put some research into your ill-formed article, and back up your claims with insightful information. Perhaps information actually related to the comparison of Macs and PCs.

Apple don’t allow you to install OS X on a PC or VM as there is a chip on the main board that has to be present for OS X to run. BUT… People have hacked it. You can set up your own Hackintosh, there are guides available here: http://www.osx86project.org/

hmmmm if only I had a spare grand or so would go out and get one as I want to play around with macs more…. have to say it does look pretty cool. can you run mac on VM? as I have a linux box sitting under my desk with VMWare installed and running windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2003.
